History
From an 1859 foundry to 120 MN presses
The Plzeň works grew from a regional foundry into one of the defining names of European mechanical engineering — and the heavy machinery branch of that lineage is what TS Plzeň continues today.
1859
Count Wallenstein-Vartenberk founds a foundry and engineering works in Plzeň, managed by engineer Emil Škoda.
1869
Emil Škoda acquires the works; rapid expansion follows.
1870s–1930s
Projects include Suez Canal sluices, Niagara Falls power station piping, the rudder frame of the Japanese warship Mikasa, plus locomotives, trams, trolleybuses, Avia aircraft and Škoda Hispano-Suiza cars.
1945
The company is nationalised.
1993
Škoda TS a.s. is created as a separate, fully Škoda-owned company for heavy machinery.
2004
Škoda TS is acquired by Železiarne Podbrezová.
2007
The company is renamed TS Plzeň a.s.
